The Secrets of Mosaicking with Beads with visiting artist Sharra Frank
In this workshop students explore the benefits of incorporating beads into a mosaic. Students will experiment with effective techniques of how to apply beads into a mosaic utilizing Sharra’s “magical” adhesive of choice. Also addressed will be how to source, select, and store beads. Information is shared through lecture, video tutorials, and guided hands-on experience. Students will create a small mosaic utilizing a selection of quality beads and bead caps provided by the instructor. Students are encouraged to bring a mosaic base to work on, a 2D or 3D surface within the dimensions of 10″ x 10″, a small selection of tesserae that inspires them and also images of their work. A demonstration on grouting beads within a mosaic will also be included. Time will be allowed for Q&A. This workshop should particularly benefit those who are interested in mixed media mosaics and those also interested in learning how to successfully incorporate beads into their mosaic work in a fine art manner.
