Portraiture in Mosaic Art; Light, Dark, Value, Tone with visiting artist Carol Shelkin
November 13th & 14th
Thurs. & Fri. 10a-5p
This workshop encourages students to experience and use stained glass in a painterly fashion. They will be introduced to the LIGHT, DARK, VALUE and TONES in stained glass and learn how to “paint with glass” creating a portrait mosaic for interior display.
In this workshop students use non-traditional mosaic andamento of their choosing and fine art techniques that will be taught to understand structure and planes in realism and how to apply these techniques to create a portrait.
Mosaic is unique to all students and my goal is to help each student develop and find their own style. There will be a PowerPoint presentation and students will begin to work from their chosen photographic-model. Photographs will be supplied, unless you are a returningstudent. Please contact Carol for approval: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Other subjects will include: composition, presenting artwork to gallery owners, exhibitions, building a resume, pricing, shipping, framing – or not framing, photographing your mosaic art and much more. The lessons taught and instruction given will last the student long after the class is over. No question will be left unanswered.
